EYEWAZ — Privacy Policy

EYEWAZ (“we”, Canvas Solutions) helps blind and low-vision users hear written text read aloud. This policy explains what we collect and why.

What we collect

• Account: name, email, optional phone, and a securely hashed password.
• Content you submit to be read: photos of text, documents/PDFs, pasted text, web links — processed to extract and speak the text. Audio you choose to save stays on your device; we don’t keep your source photos/documents beyond what’s needed to process them.
• Voice input: when you use voice commands / Ask EYEWAZ, audio is processed to understand your request.
• Voice-bank recordings (optional, consented): with consent, a recording is used to create a synthetic “dialect voice.” We store the consent record and resulting voice and delete both on request.
• Reminders & preferences; and usage counts for plan limits.
• Biometric unlock (Face ID / fingerprint): handled by your device. We only store a passkey public key. We never receive your biometric data.

How it’s used

Only to provide the reading, translation, assistant, reminder, library, and membership features. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Service providers

We share the minimum needed with Microsoft Azure (OCR, translation, text-to-speech), Anthropic (assistant), ElevenLabs (voice cloning, if used), SendGrid (verification emails), PayPal/Stripe (payments — card details go to them, never to us), and our hosting/database (Render, MongoDB Atlas).

Payments

Processed by PayPal and Stripe. We store your plan and a subscription reference, not your card details.

Data retention & deletion

Saved recordings stay on your device until you delete them. You can delete your account and data anytime in the app (Account) or by emailing us. Voice-bank speakers may withdraw consent and we delete the cloned voice.

Children

Not directed at children under 13 (16 in some regions) without a parent/guardian. Voice-bank speakers must be 18+ or have guardian consent.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Secrets are never shipped in the app.
